Description

Early to Mid 1800s Spanish Colonial European Silver Salver/Tray w/Figural Feet
Presented is a wonderful silver salver or tray. This piece dates to the early to mid 1800s, and is likely of Spanish colonial or continental European origin. The tray has a Chippendale style edge, with a raised border. The feet of the tray are done in a very interesting style, in the form of stylized human figures. These figures appear to be supporting the weight of the tray on their backs, heads bowed with the effort. I have very rarely, if ever, seen legs/ feet done this way. This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The tray has what is presumably a maker’s mark of ‘NO D’ intertwined with the number 8 or the infinity symbol. The tray is 900 purity silver.
The tray is about 10 inches in diameter and stands about 1 1/4 inches tall.
This piece weighs 512 grams or 18.1 regular ounces.
